The Most Important Central Bank Releases This Week
central bank communications analytics research

In a week embodying the typical mid-August slowdown in financial markets, the only G-10 currency central bank communications are slated to come from the Reserve Bank of Australia and the Norges Bank. The only RBA speaker will be Luci Ellis, who is likely to confirm the RBA’s wait-and-see approach. The Norges Bank has a policy meeting that could signal willingness to tighten policy soon, largely in concert with ECB tightening (tapering). However, the Norges Bank’s case for a rate hike will likely be determined by inflation conditions, so policymakers may only hike if elevated inflation persists.
